Privacy Policy

MyIslamic.Life is designed with privacy as a default. This page explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how you can ask us to delete it. We aim to plain-English everything; please email privacy@myislamic.life if anything here is unclear.

What we collect

• Anonymous device ID. When you first open the app or website, we generate a random UUID and store it locally. It lets us remember your bookmarks, prayer logs, and reading position without requiring a sign-in.
• Location. Only with your explicit permission, and only to calculate accurate prayer times and the Qibla direction. We store the coordinates locally; the server only ever sees the rounded-to-2-decimals values used for cache keys.
• App usage data. Prayer logs, bookmarks, and last-read positions you create. Tied to your anonymous device ID.
• Account (optional). Email address if you sign in via Clerk to sync across devices. We never sell, share, or commercialize your email.
• Crash and error reports (off by default). If you opt-in in Settings, anonymized crash logs are sent to Sentry to help us fix bugs.

What we don't collect

• Your contacts, photos, or microphone.
• Your precise location history. We use your location once to compute prayer times — we don't track movements.
• Browsing behaviour outside the app or website.
• Anything we'd sell to a third party. Ever.

Where data lives

Servers are hosted on Cloudflare and Neon (Postgres) in Singapore (ap-southeast-1). Audio recitations are served from Cloudflare R2 / quranicaudio.com. Authentication, if you sign in, is handled by Clerk.

Retention

Prayer logs, bookmarks, and reading progress are retained until you delete them or request deletion. Anonymous device records are garbage-collected after 12 months of inactivity.

Your rights

You can request a copy of all data we have associated with your device or account, or ask us to delete it, by emailing privacy@myislamic.life. We respond within 30 days.

Children

MyIslamic.Life is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes

We'll post material changes here at least 14 days before they take effect, and email signed-in users when changes affect them.
